June 4th, 2026 Community Meeting Notes

June 4th Waukesha Mutual Aid Network Community Meeting Notes

Meeting Notes written by Mary Jo.

  • Max made a mobile little free library that we can bring to events, MJ is storing it. We’re going to do food shares in the park over the summer. Next one is June 27 at Cutler Park, 11-1. It will be a food and bake share – a pay what you want bake sale (fundraiser).
  • We can check with local bakeries to see if they have any leftover goods to donate.
  • Lindsey has the tablecloth, we’ll need a few tables.
  • The next community meeting will be July 2 at 6 at Bethesda Park.
  • Lindsey is meeting with the mayor soon, is reviewing what she wants to bring up.
  • Summit View garden green team – Lindsey can make a monthly checklist of what to do/harvest.
  • There’s a new Signal chat for the marketing team, anyone can join.
  • MJ was going to help Lauree Madson with her pantry project.
  • There was a suggestion we have a form for submitting videos – Brant said he could help with that.
  • Amethyst is going to do a new t-shirt post with a June 15 deadline to order.
    New Ideas
  • We’d like to have a zucchini cooking workshop later in the summer (August or early September), at rotary building in Stultz or at library if we can get it to be a sponsored event to use the kitchen. Idea would be 20 things to make with zucchini, with samples and recipe cards (so wouldn’t need to use kitchen). We can ask for recipes and cooks on Signal/Discord.
  • Amethyst is going to put on a type-in/typewriter event – could do at Bethsda Park or Lyndsey’s office. Kids love typewriters. July 25?
  • Fen is going to put on a hydroponics workshop as a fundraiser, like $10. Needs jars.
  • Brent suggested we do emergency car kits for the winter.
  • Lindsey suggested a herbal remedy clinic (with Olive?)
  • Possible community garden space at UU church (Hannah)
